Go Wildcats!!

Chinle boys and girls basketball teams have both made it to the States semifinals. The town is buzzing with basketball talk, everyone has their own copy of the bracket and the line for tickets is hours long. The boys semifinal game is Friday at the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, AZ. Rez towns are crazy enough about their teams, school will most likely be called off!

President's Day!  What a great excuse to spend a long weekend at our favorite ski resort - Wolf Creek!!  

There were 9 of us total,  including 2 friends from Austin, Texas (Matt and Patty)!  Thanks for making the trek to our neck of the woods!!  

I am forever amazed at how good the snow is at Wolf Creek.  The mountain greeted us with knee deep fluffy stuff.   Umm... yes, that is Dave in the second picture...

After the mountain and a dip in the hot springs, we had to have dinner at our favorite restaurant in Pagosa - Kip's Grill.  Where I can't seem to order anything besides fish tacos (sooooo good!), and the waiter and bartender have an Irish Car Bomb with the boys. 

Monday we went for a snowshoe... which turned into snowshoe races (and there wasn't even a prize at stake)....  don't ask why, because I still don't know...  but, it was a ton of laughs and some great pictures too :o)  

It's only 30 miles

Ryan and Patricia have officially moved to Tsaile :o( Ryan is now the Chief Optometrist at Tsaile Health Center (Congratulations!!).

Most of you think Dave and I live in a remote location in Chinle with a population of ~5,600..
well... Tsaile is even more remote, with a population of 1078. The main campus of Dine College, where we are taking our moccasin making class, is also located here.

See their blog (I have linked to it on our blog as well as on my 30th birthday post) for pictures of the Chuska mountains they now live at the foot of. 1000 feet higher in elevation than Chinle, there are pine forests, lakes and snow. We are jealous of their new playground but look forward to many days of exploring with them :o)


Yes, it is only 30 miles down the road...and I know we will be seeing them often.... but I will really miss impromptu dinners, backyard fires and walks/runs around the compound with the dogs. I guess now it will just have to be biking, hiking, and hanging out in the Chuskas, weekend sleepovers and blueberry pancake breakfasts :o)

From our front yard, we can see the Chuskas on the horizon. So, when I really miss you guys, at least I can walk outside and know you're not too far away.

A friend, food, hot tub and powder filled 30th!

Dave has a teacher inservice day today, and I promised myself I would have a lazy Saturday. Somehow I have mentally planned too many things to fit into 1 day... and am still considering it lazy. (I have my mom to thank for this trait!) Since, as usual I am being put to shame by the recent frequency of the Scarborough's blogging, I decided to start the day with an update of my own.

I am not sure why so many people dread their 30th birthday! Mine was nothing short of awesome! We spent the weekend with 15 friends in Telluride (a few were coming and going throughout the weekend). Dinner was in over-the-top "30th birthday" style at 221 South Oak.

I of course ordered gnocchi (my requested birthday dinner for as long as I can remember) and many glasses of wine and laughs later, had pecan apple bread pudding for dessert. Delicious!

Dave and I took advantage of snowboarding with 2 skilled skiers (yes... Ryan, that includes you ;o) and explored new terrain in Telluride. The Revelation Bowl is Telluride's newest lift serviced area which was previously only a "hike to" bowl (go here and click on "revelation map").

Talk about powder!! We spent 2 long days happily playing in the stuff! Thank goodness for the hot tub at our condo or I might still be sore!

Thanks to all of our friends who celebrated with me. It was definitely a birthday to remember!
