sometimes it's the simple things

Just a peak into what daily Navajo rez life is like....
An email string went out at work yesterday that I found too entertaining not to share with everyone.

"Prairie dogs coming up into the yard is a serious concern of one tenant... Their dug outs are deep and the only thing you can do is put rocks into the hole, close it up with dirt & hope they don’t dig up another hole. At the mean time, the housing office is searching for a way to curb this problem and/or maybe there’s a way to make them retreat."

Response : "Do it the old fashion way (Navajo way) Flood them out. Repeat the process for several days. You can do this with a garden hose."

"Today the wind is predicted to hit 70 mph, off & on the wind will be here for probably another month or so. We ask that you secure your trash cans and make sure the storm doors are latched."

Response: "...I saw many trash cans rolling down the streets at noon today. ... I usually try to retrieve them but I didn’t want to blow away with the trash bins, HA!. The wind was very strong at noon."

I'll have to try that "flooding" technique on the perennial flower bed where I have moles digging like crazy! Little buggers!
